A new chapter is beginning at the blue side of Liverpool, with the Toffees’ new stadium up and ready for the 25/26 Premier League campaign. The change from Goodison Park to Everton Stadium will leave many Evertonians emotional, saying their goodbyes to the stadium. However, Goodison Park will live on as Everton Women’s new permanent home ground.

    A Farewell to Goodison Park

The goodbye to Goodison Park will be emotional for all Evertonians. The iconic Stadium is one of the longest-lasting in English football and has been used by Everton F.C. for over 130 years. The last game at Goodison for Everton Football Club occurred on Sunday, May 18th 2025, in a fixture against recently relegated Southampton. Everton saw their beloved ground off with a 2 – 0 win, before a special “End of an Era” ceremony was held and accompanied by former players, live music and a tribute dedicated to the stadium’s past.

While the men’s team prepares for a new home on the dockside at Bramley Moore, Everton Women will continue to use Goodison Park. Their home games for the 25/26 season have been confirmed to occur at this historic ground.

    The Everton Stadium Overview

The new £800m project will be debuted by the Toffees next season and will have a capacity of 52,888 people. This increase from Goodison Park’s 39,572 allows Everton to compete with some of the biggest clubs in England. The new Bramley Moore Dock Stadium will be the seventh largest capacity stadium in English football, just one place behind the home of Merseyside rivals and ex-home of Everton Football Club, Anfield.

Along with becoming Everton F.C.’s new home, the Bramley-Moore Dock Stadium is a multi-use facility that can accommodate various events beyond football. According to the Everton Stadium website, there will be opportunities to host other events, from outdoor concerts to major sporting events, large press conferences, and small community meetings. Utilising the stadium for events outside of football will generate significant revenue for the city and create more jobs for Liverpool residents. This is similar to the new Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, which has been a remarkable success in events, excluding football, such as concerts and NFL games.

The Everton Stadium will feature a variety of traditional pubs, bars, high-street-style restaurants, and fine-dining spaces, providing pre- and post-match facilities on match days. This will enhance the experience for both home and away fans on matchday, creating a well-rounded football atmosphere.

The Architectural Design and Key Features

The architecture of the new Everton Stadium is an example of modern innovation with a historic tribute. The stadium is designed in a circular bowl-shaped structure to intensify the matchday experience by keeping fans as close to the stadium as possible. Also, keeping the fans as close to the play as possible is evident in the steep stairs. An issue at Goodison Park was the obstructive pillars in the stands; the new Everton Stadium has always pledged to contain no obstructive pillars to improve the fans’ experience at the ground with a clear view.

The Everton Stadium will feature a single-tier stand with over 13,000 fans. The stand has taken inspiration from Borussia Dortmund’s iconic Yellow Wall. The design is made to bring all Evertonians together in one stand to become a ‘12th man’ in the stadium with loud atmospheres to spur players on for victory, and to intimidate opposing players.

The stadium, located north of Liverpool, will feature advanced technology to make an enjoyable experience for all fans. The stadium is designed to rival global leaders worldwide in all areas, including smart technology on the ground. Fans will not struggle with inconsistent mobile service at the new stadium due to the adoption of high-speed Wi-Fi, allowing supporters to stay online while playing football. A custom Everton app has been designed for fans to access live match highlights and manage tickets before match days.

Hospitality Features and the Fan Experience

The new Everton Stadium will introduce an exciting array of hospitality experiences to elevate the matchday atmosphere. Fans will be treated to various stylish bars and exquisite restaurants, each offering distinct culinary delights to satisfy every palate. From high-end dining options to cosy lounges, there will be something for every Evertonian seeking a luxurious experience while enjoying the football, whether it’s a place to relax and check their fantasy football line-ups or to play slots that are inspired by the beautiful game. The glass-fronted lounges overlooking the River Mersey are perfect for unwinding before the thrill kicks off.

How Will This Impact Everton’s Future

The state-of-the-art stadium will enhance Everton F.C.’s global profile, enabling the Toffees to cultivate a broader fan base and expand the club. The improved facilities also attract higher-quality players to the blue side of Liverpool, helping them compete with other teams in England and return Everton to glory. The additional revenue generated by the stadium will come from increased matchday income through more ticket sales and the year-round hosting of various events, excluding football. These income streams will pave the way for financial stability for Everton F.C., which will help the club to compete in the future.
