You’ve seen Geraldine from ‘WandaVision’ before in the Marvel Universe

Embarking on the realization of a film saga provides many narrative opportunities that, in a normal project, you do not have. For example, to surprise viewers by recovering characters that have already appeared in some other installment of the saga. And they were not going to be less the executive producer Kevin Faige, creator of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and his team of filmmakers. One of the last satisfactory things they have opted for in this regard is related to the Geraldine by WandaVision (Jac Schaeffer, 2021), the miniseries just released on Disney Plus.

Monica Rambeau, a major superhero

As reported by Marvel Studios, WandaVision’s neighbor Geraldine is actually Monica Rambeau, who appears as a child in Captain Marvel

This neighbor of Wanda Maximoff (Elizabeth Olsen), aka Scarlet Witch, and Vision (Paul Pettany) in Westview, played by Teyonah Parris (The Blues of Beale Street) in WandaVision, is actually Monica rambeau. Marvel Studios reported it. And, in case the name is not familiar to you, let me refresh your memory. She is the daughter of Maria Rambeau (Lashana Lynch), the unconditional friend of Carol Danvers (Brie Larson), in the movie Captain Marvel (Anna Boden, Ryan Fleck, 2019). But his argument happened in the 90s, so by then the very young Akira Akbar (This Is Us) embodied it.

In the comics, she was the second Captain Marvel, calling herself Photon, Pulsar, and Spectrum, and became the leader of the Avengers for a season.

In the marvel comics, Monica Rambeau is not exactly unimportant. It was the brainchild of screenwriter Roger Stern and cartoonist John Romita Jr. for number sixteen of The Amazing Spider-Man Annual (1982). He gained superpowers, provided by his unforeseen exposure to an extra-dimensional energy source. She became the second Captain Marvel, calling herself Photon, Pulsar, and Spectrum, and served as the leader of the Avengers for a season. We do not yet know what will become of her in WandaVision or in the UCM as a whole, but we do know Captain Marvel 2 (Nia DaCosta, 2022) will feature Teyonah Parris in the role.
