Little by little (and never better said), Xiaomi’s subsidiary brand, POCO, continues to expand its catalog of terminals. Yesterday, without going any further, the POCO X3 NFC was presented globally, which lands in the mid-range with the latest Qualcomm chip on board, the Snapdragon 732G.
Today, it was the turn of POCO M2, a more modest and affordable device which has been officially announced in the Indian market. Its specifications, more basic than those of the POCO M2 Pro launched in July, include a 6.53-inch FullHD + screen, MediaTek’s Helio G80 processor, a 5,000 mAh battery and a quad rear camera. Do they sound familiar? They are, basically, the same as the Redmi 9. Of course, with more memory.

As we said, the new POCO M2 presented in India shares most of the benefits with the Redmi 9 that is marketed globally. Some of them are his 6.53-inch screen with FullHD + resolution, Corning Gorilla Glass glass and a drop-shaped notch to house the 8-megapixel front camera.
Inside, we have the Mediatek Helio G80 processor, an eight-core chipset intended for games that, in this model, comes with 6 GB of RAM and two storage options (64 and 128 GB) expandable with a microSD card. As an operating system, it comes with MIUI 11 for POCO based on Android 10, but will update to MIUI 12 soon.
The rear camera of the POCO M2 is the same as the Redmi 9: it consists of a 13 megapixel main sensor f / 2.2, an 8-megapixel f / 2.2 wide-angle with a 118-degree field of view, a 5-megapixel f / 2.4 sensor for macro photography, and a 2-megapixel f / 2.4 sensor for depth readings (bokeh effect).
That quad camera is housed in an elongated module at the rear, which in turn boasts a gradient color and a wavy anti-fingerprint texture. Another important feature of this phone is its 5,000 mAh battery supports 18W fast charging.
POCO M2 versions and prices
The new POCO M2 has been presented in India and it will be there where it will go on sale on September 15, but we do not know if it will reach other countries. What we do know is that it will be available in three different colors (Slate Blue, Pitch Black and Brick Red) and in two configurations depending on storage:
LITTLE M2 6GB / 64GB: 10,999 rupees, which is equal to about 127 euros to the current change.
LITTLE M2 6GB / 128GB: 12,499 rupees, which is equal to about 144 euros to the current change.
