Pac-Man’s birthday was widely celebrated, as Bandai Namco prepared several surprises to pamper his pet with various announcements. Among them were the reveal of a game to create 2D levels, a collaboration with Minecraft and it even became the first game to be recreated with the help of artificial intelligence, without the help of a game engine. The surprises did not stop there, but other projects are underway that include arcade cabinets, figures and much more, apart from congratulations from Nintendo and SEGA.

Bandai Namco announced (via Nintendo Soup) that a 23.75-inch Arcade1Up cabinet will be released that will contain the Pac-Man, Pac-Man Plus, Super Pac-Man, Pac & Pal, Pac-Land, Pac-Mania installments. and Galaga. This machine will be joined by Counter-cade, Party Cade and Head-to-Head arcades, all special editions of the 40th anniversary.

The next arcades will have a commemorative design

There will also be a commemorative edition of Pac-Man’s small functional and collectible cabinets produced by My Arcade. The novelty is that it will include a special design for the 40th anniversary and will have a golden lever. It will be sold in exchange for $ 40 USD, referring to the age of Pac-Man.

Following this line of arcades, a partnership with Numskull Designs was also revealed to produce a 1: 4 scale cabinet, which will have a special 40th anniversary design and will be sold in 2 versions, one standard and one exclusive, since It will be signed by Pac-Man creator Toru Iwatani. You should know that of this last one there will only be 256 units, referring to the legendary level in which there was a glitch that ended the game. The first will be sold in exchange for $ 129.99 USD and the other will be priced at $ 299.99 USD. In addition to this, there will be various merchandise inspired by the anniversary. But that’s not all, the Japanese company also revealed multimedia projects, such as the animated serial comeback, with Pac-Man and the Ghostly Snack Attack, which will premiere on Amazon’s Alexa.

For all lovers of the soundtracks of the various projects of the franchise there is also good news, as it was announced that some tracks are already available on the digital platforms Spotify, Apple Music, Amazon Music, Qobuz and Deezer, and that more will be added every month from May 22 to July 24. There will also be a book that will show a retrospective of the creation of Pac-Man in these last 40 years, which will be the responsibility of Cook & Becker. On the other hand, the company anticipated that more games are coming by the end of 2020.

Lastly, collectible figure maker First 4 Figures revealed that a 7-inch-tall statue of Pac-Man is in development and features the character in a classic design, but in 3D. Nintendo and SEGA congratulated Pac-Man

The anniversary of Bandai Namco’s mascot is a reason to unite the big video game companies and 2 of the most important and contemporary Pac-Man, Nintendo and SEGA, could not let this day pass without congratulating him.
