Sasha Banks won the WWE RAW Women’s Championship this week. It was a controversial title change, but The Boss is still very happy with itself. The big question is, when did WWE make this change of plans?

WWE decided to give the RAW championship to Sasha Banks right now

WWE has plenty of options for SummerSlam. They had every intention of Asuka entering SummerSlam as the RAW Women’s Champion, but those plans changed. During the most recent edition of Wrestling Observer Radio, it was explained that WWE made the changes just before the recordings.

“Originally, Asuka was supposed to defend the championship at SummerSlam against the one who hurt Kairi and that was the last Sunday night or Monday morning of the recordings when they broke all of that.”

The previous plans were that Natalya or Shayna Baszler would face Asuka at SummerSlam for the title. Since Natalya was not available, then Baszler was presumably getting that spot. Now those plans seem to be out of the window.

Baszler apparently started a new rivalry with Nia Jax this week on WWE RAW. That could be Queen Of Spades’ address for the biggest event of the summer.
