The Audi e-tron Sportback is the SUV body version of the company’s first electric with the four rings. Two different versions are sold, the e-tron Sportback 50, with 313 horses and 347 kilometers of autonomy and another, the e-tron Sportback 55 that we have tested, with 408 horses and 446 kilometers of autonomy. The battery capacity also varies between the two. Its starting price is 75,340 euros.
The 2020 Audi e-tron Sportback It is the second electric model of the firm after the Audi e-tron, from which it differs mainly by its forms from the B-pillar. There is also a more performance version called the Audi e-tron Sportback S.
Among its rivals are models such as the Tesla Model X, the Mercedes-Benz EQC or the Jaguar I-Pace.
AUDI E-TRON SPORTBACK 2020: EXTERIOR
The 2020 Audi e-tron Sportback It measures 4.90 meters long, 1.94 meters wide and 1.62 meters high. His battle is 2.93 meters. Only the height is different from that of the conventional e-tron. It measures precisely 13 millimeters less.
Its most differential characteristic is the angle of fall of the roof, which is what gives it the identity Sportback. In this sense, it is enough to appreciate the inclination of the C-pillar to detect with the naked eye that it is not a Audi e-tron conventional. The lower edge of the third window is also raised at its end at the bottom.
With digital exterior mirrors it achieves a drag coefficient of just 0.25. It is a better figure than the original Audi e-tron, which is explained by the coupe silhouette of its body.
Elements such as the octagonal grill Singleframe, the wheel arches or the profile of the rear are trademarks of the house. The black inserts on the side skirts suggest the placement of the batteries and the rear includes a light line that gives it a great presence on the road.
The tires that come standard are 19 inches. From the Advanced version they are 20.
The S line version It comes standard with 20-inch wheels and sports air suspension. The bumpers are flanked by inlets that improve air flow, located under the headlights. At the rear, both the spoiler and diffuser extend the full width of the vehicle for improved aerodynamic performance. The S line exterior trim elements are painted in the body color.
Offers optional lighting Matrix led digital. The light is divided into small pixels that illuminate the road. The design is based on DMD technology – digital micromirror device. Each micromirror can tilt up to 5,000 times per second. It has new functions such as lane, orientation and marking lights. On motorways, create a walk-around lighting mat for added road safety.
The standard lights are led. They feature a cascading arrangement that is typical of the signature four-ring electric models.

AUDI E-TRON SPORTBACK 2020: INTERIOR
The 2020 Audi e-tron Sportback It is traced to that of the conventional version of the electric SUV. The disposition of Audi Virtual Cockpit and the center console is essentially the same. The free height to the roof of the rear seats is 2 centimeters lower than the Audi e-tron, the result of the coupe condition of the Sportback.
The front loading compartment is 60 liters and is perfect for storing the different charging cables that we can use when we are on a journey. The rear luggage compartment reaches 555 liters, which increases to 1,595 when the rear seats are folded down. The cargo volume with all available seats is therefore 615 liters. It loses 45 liters compared to the e-tron.
For the front seats, customers can choose between the standard, sports seats, S line sports seats and comfort seats, with ventilation and massage options. The audio system is offered as an option Bang & Olufsen Premium 3D.
AUDI E-TRON SPORTBACK 2020: EQUIPMENT
The Audi e-tron Sportback divides its range into four finishes, which are the basic, Advanced, S line and Black line.

In the versions Advanced, Audi virtual cockpit plus instrumentation is added, rear view camera, 20-inch wheels, roof rack, electrically folding rear-view mirrors, Audi Smartphone interface, orange brake calipers, ambient light package, Audi Beams’ e-tron ‘and rear side airbags.
The edition S line It adds other 20-inch wheels, full paint, lane departure warning, interior S line package, power-adjustable seats, leather-trimmed dashboard, Alcantara and leather sports seats, sports air suspension and exterior S line package.
The ‘supreme’ version is the Black line, which adds the black styling package, black roof bars, tinted glass and dedicated wheels. It offers 20-inch wheels as standard.
Digital rear view mirrors are always optional.
The application myAudi It allows you to connect the car to a mobile phone and remotely check parameters such as battery status and remaining range, program and start charging processes and display driving statistics. The Audi connect key digital key, available as an option, allows an Android phone to open or close the car door or even start the model.
Especially striking are those known as Functions on Demand. These are a series of optional elements that the car always comes with as standard but which are inactive until the customer demands their use upon payment. For example, a customer who does not want to incorporate the Matrix led headlights, which are priced at 1,700 euros, can ‘unlock’ them at a cost of 88 euros per month. When you no longer want or need them, stop paying and the e-tron Sportback has conventional led lights again.
Audi also offers a replacement car for two years and in eight five-day packages per year at no cost. Added to this is free maintenance for eight years or 160,000 kilometers and a subsidy to install a charging point at home.
AUDI E-TRON SPORTBACK 2020: MECHANICAL
The 2020 Audi e-tron Sportback It is available with two different mechanics: 50 quattro and 55 quatro.
The 50 quattro offers two electric motors, one on each axis. Together they generate 313 horsepower and 540 Newton meters of torque. It accelerates from 0 to 100 kilometers / hour in 6.8 seconds and reaches 190 kilometers / hour. Its battery has a gross capacity of 71 kilowatt hours, giving it up to 347 kilometers of autonomy.
The 55 quattro It also has two motors, one on each axis, but it raises the power to 360 horsepower and the torque to 561 Newton meters. By changing the selector from D to S, the driver can have up to 408 horsepower and 664 Newton meters for eight seconds. It takes 6.6 seconds to accelerate from 0 to 100 kilometers / hour, although it can do so in just 5.7 seconds when you have the S selector activated. Its top speed is electronically limited to 200 kilometers / hour. Its battery reaches 95 kilowatt hours of gross capacity by incorporating an upper deck. This allows it to have a range of up to 446 kilometers in the WLTP homologation cycle. The car is capable of recover 30% of its autonomy through energy regeneration.
The heat pump uses the waste heat from the high-voltage battery. You can use up to 3 kilowatts of actual power losses to heat and cool the interior. Depending on the weather conditions, the autonomy can be extended up to 10%.
The Audi e-tron Sportback It equips a two-stage planetary gear gearbox. The driver can select the gears with the thumb and index finger, and with a control located on the central tunnel that also serves as a palm rest.
Its two electric motors provide all-wheel drive and quattro technology distributes the torque between the two axles. It is mainly based on the rear thruster, but uses the front when extra power is required, when a slip is detected or when cornering at a fast pace, also to correct principles of understeer or oversteer.
The driver can use the selector Audi drive select, which puts at your disposal seven differentiated driving profiles to establish different levels of comfort and sportiness. At high speeds, the body approaches the ground to improve aerodynamics and range. The height can vary up to 76 millimeters.
With a 150-kilowatt charger, the Audi e-tron Sportback 55 quattro reaches 80% of its battery in just under half an hour. The 50 quattro supports loads of up to 120 kilowatts, but since its battery is smaller the recharge times are the same.
With a standard cable –Mode 3–, it can be recharged to 11 kilowatts in public AC stations. As an option Audi offers a second optional device to raise them up to 22 kilowatts. With a card you can access the e-tron Charging Service network, with 120,000 charging points in 21 European countries.
Audi offers a range of solutions for charging in the home garage. The compact charging system, as standard, is valid for a 230 volt connection and for a 400 volt three-phase socket with a power of up to 11 kilowatts. For its part, the optional connect system offers intelligent functions, for example, scheduling charging during hours when rates are cheaper. Combined with a home energy management system, the vehicle can even charge its battery with solar energy, provided the home is equipped with a compatible photovoltaic system.
AUDI E-TRON SPORTBACK 2020: PRICES
The Audi e-tron Sportback is now available in Spain for a starting price of 75,340 euros. The Advanced version starts from 81,640 euros, while the S line does the same from 85,840. The Black Line variant starts at 87,340 euros. All these prices correspond to the units equipped with the 50 quattro engine. Those that equip the 55 quattro add 12,640 euros to equal equipment.
The price is, in any case, 2,300 euros higher than that of the conventional e-tron.
