WASHINGTON, Jul 30 (.) – United States President Donald Trump said Thursday that he did not want to postpone this year’s November elections, hours after suggesting a delay in the election, but reiterated his concerns about the millions of votes sent by mail.
« I want an election and an outcome, much, much more than you do, » Trump told reporters at the White House.
« I don’t want to delay it. I want to have the elections. But I also don’t want to have to wait three months and then discover that the votes are missing and the election doesn’t mean anything, » he added.
Trump cited recent media reports of possible late mail ballot problems and said it could take weeks, months, or even years to resolve. « Do I want to see a date change? No, but I don’t want to see a corrupt election, » he said. (Report by Andrea Shalal and Doina Chiacu, Edited in Spanish by Manuel Farías)
