Tragedy in esports after the feminicide of Ingrid Oliveira, CoD: Mobile player

The esports scene is in mourning after confirming the murder of Ingrid Oliveira Bueno da Silva, better known as “Sol”, a professional Call of Duty: Mobile player whose life was taken away by another player named Guilherme Alves Costa.

Today, various accounts on social networks and media specialized in esports woke up with the unfortunate news of the murder of Ingrid Oliveira Bueno da Silva, 19, a heinous act carried out by Guilherme Alves Costa, known in the competitive Call of Duty scene: Mobile as “Flashlight”. According to official information so far, the player known as “Flashlight” planned the murder of “Sol” after learning about her through online gaming sessions.

Unfortunately, the murderer documented his every step, including the murder, and shared it with his acquaintances through the Internet. In fact, the subject sent the video where he committed the murder to the esports organization Gamers Elite and in one of his messages he launched into hate attacks against Brazilian Christian groups and made an apology for terrorism. Upon being arrested by the police, Guilherme Alves Costa accepted the murder and stated that he does not suffer from any mental illness and was fully conscious when he killed Ingrid Oliveira Bueno da Silva.

Ingrid Oliveira Bueno da Silva was beginning to make her way into the competitive Call of Duty: Mobile scene as a member of the FBI E-sports organization.

The murder brought to the table again the problem of violence against women in Brazil and in different parts of the world, emphasizing femicide and little or no response from the authorities.
