This is what dragons will look like in the Game of Thrones prequel

At some point, plans to extend the Game of Thrones television universe with two prequels looked too ambitious. First we had Bloodmoon, starring Naomi Watts, which was canceled by HBO, but the TV channel still had more surprises up its sleeve: a prequel about House Targaryen titled House of the Dragon. With this in mind come the first official images of what the dragons in this project will look like specifically.

Jason Kilar, CEO of WarnerMedia, shared (via TVLine) a series of concept arts that anticipate how majestic these mythological creatures will look. Principal photography for House of the Dragon, the upcoming Game of Thrones series, will begin… in a few months. Watch out for dragons on high! “Kilar wrote. As if this were not enough, he also boasted the logo that will accompany the show.

House of the Dragon is based on the novel Fire and blood by George RR Martin and first published in November 2018. The series will focus on the rise of House Targaryen through the conquests of Aegon. As well as in the civil war of the Targaryen, locally known as The Dance of the Dragons. It should be noted that this novel prequel will be set 300 years before the events of Game of Thrones.

House of the Dragon has been co-created by George RR Martin himself, who wrote the pilot episode for this production. Ryan J. Condal (Hercules; Colony; Rampage) will serve as showrunner alongside Miguel Sapochnik, who directed several of the most memorable episodes of Game of Thrones such as The Battle of the Bastards, The Long Night and Stern House. In addition, according to IMDb, one of the protagonists will be Paddy considine whom we have seen in Macbeth (2015) and the series The visitor (2020), among others. The English actor will play Viserys Targaryen.

Details about House of the Dragon emerge after Warner Bros. announced that all of its major 2021 releases will premiere simultaneously in theaters and streaming (HBO Max).

The prequel is scheduled to premiere sometime in 2022.
