This is the park that will replace the Chapultepec Fair

During the past month of September, The Chapultepec Fair was forced to suspend your activities as a result of a fatal accident that claimed the lives of two visitors. After the misfortune, various investigations and consultations carried out by the local authorities, an international call was launched to operate the new Fair in Chapultepec.

From that invitation, six possible candidates resulted to keep the operating rights. The Ministry of the Environment (Sedema) announced that the firms Cabi Entertainment, SAPI de CV; Sofmar Fun, SA de CV; Negrete Garza, SC; Six Flags México, SA de CV; Quantum Servicio, SA de CV, Y Mota-Engil Mexico, SAPI de CV will seek to operate the entertainment space located in the second section of Bosque de Chapultepec.

Finally, Sedema revealed to the companies that will develop the amusement park that will replace the Fair, which until now is known as “Aztlan”. Mota Engil México and Thor Urbana Capital will be the companies that presented the project and will be in charge of carrying it out.

The first is currently working on the construction of the initial section of the Mayan Train, while the second has projects in its portfolio such as the Ritz Carlton Mexico City hotel, scheduled to open in July 2021.

The proposals were reviewed by a group that included specialists from the National Polytechnic Institute and the Anahuac University, as well as representatives of the city government and the Citizen Rector Council of the Bosque de Chapultepec.

Aztlán must comply with a “strict protocol of sanitation measures, entry filters and registration of people who enter, not only during the current pandemic but permanently,” the agency said in a statement.

Although the results of the call were scheduled for April 2020, the process was delayed due to the contingency but there is already a decision and although details about the park that will replace the Chapultepec Fair have not yet been released. There are also no dates on its construction or opening; According to Sedema, after the results are announced, the companies must present the final project for approval.
