The end of The Walking Dead is very close. The popular zombie series has been confirmed to conclude in a longer-than-usual season 11.
The universe of The Walking Dead continues to expand little by little with the new spin-off series of the franchise, with the launch of The Walking Dead: World Beyond very soon, a series focused on a group of young people who are part of the first generation of this new zombie-infested world, whose first official images of the main characters we saw a few days ago.
However, despite continuing to produce new series in the franchise, the original series will soon see its end. As reported by TV Line, the The Walking Dead series will end in season 11. However, this season will be longer than usual, covering a total of 24 episodes that will be broadcast over the next two years.
If we add the six episodes of the season 10 expansion, there will be 30 episodes left for the series to end once and for all, the conclusion of which we will not see until next 2022. All this taking into account that there is no new delay in production due to the Coronavirus pandemic, of course.

But as they say, when a door closes, a window opens, and AMC is already preparing another new series of the franchise called Tales of the Walking Dead, an anthology series in which each episode will tell a self-concluding story focused on new or existing characters from The Walking Dead universe.
“It’s been ten years; what we have ahead of us is two more to come and stories and stories to tell beyond that,” said Scott M. Gimple, content director of the The Walking Dead universe. “What is clear is that this series has been about the living, made by a passionate cast, team of writers, producers and crew, bringing to life the vision presented by Robert Kirkman in his brilliant comics, and with the support of the best fans in the world. We have a lot of exciting story to tell in TWD, and then this ending will be the beginning of more Walking Dead: new stories and characters, familiar faces and places, new voices and new mythologies. This will be a great ending that will lead to new releases. Evolution is upon us. The Walking Dead lives. “

“I look forward to working with our brilliant writers, producers, directors, cast and crew to bring this epic final chapter in the Robert Kirkman story to life for our fans for the next two years,” commented the The Walking Dead showrunner Angela Kang. “The flagship series The Walking Dead has been my creative home for a decade, so it’s bittersweet to end it, but I couldn’t be more excited to be working with Scott Gimple and AMC to develop a new series for Daryl and Carol. Working with Norman Reedus and Melissa McBride has been the highlight of my career and I am delighted that we can continue to tell stories together. “
