The keynote that Apple usually celebrates in September has left us this year without the presentation of the iPhone 12, but yes, in return, we have known the next generation of the iPad and two new Apple Watch. In addition, the Cupertino company has also focused on in software and services with the launch of Apple One and Apple Fitness +, among other novelties.
We are precisely going to stop at the latter, which constitutes the first fitness experience built into Apple Watch and will be available later this year. Its objective? Offer personalized training for both beginners and enthusiastic athletes of any level.
A multi-device experience
Apple Fitness + intelligently integrates Apple Watch data so users can view it directly on the iPhone, iPad or Apple TV screen, thus offering a personalized training experience. In this way, anyone can enjoy gym exercises taught by top-level trainers and accompanied by motivating music from well-known artists.
Thanks to a custom recommendation engine, Fitness + analyzes previous workouts and suggests new options related to what users usually select habitually or something new to balance the routine they are following. In addition, it includes an intuitive filter tool when searching for a workout (type, trainer, duration or music) and, for Apple Music subscribers, it offers the option of easily saving their favorite music from Fitness + workouts.
At launch, customers can easily find Fitness + in the new Fitness app tab on iPhone, which will also be available on iPad and Apple TV. When you select a workout and start watching it on your iPhone, iPad, or Apple TV, it will automatically start on your Apple Watch for the clock data to appear on the screen– Heartbeats, countdown, the Burn Bar, Activity rings … And with shared activity, friends and family can automatically see completed Fitness + workouts.
Trainings, coaches and privacy
As confirmed by the company, Apple Fitness + will arrive with the most popular types of workouts, including cycling, treadmill, rowing, HIIT, strength, yoga, dance, core and mindful relaxation, accompanied by selected music. In addition, every week, the team of coaches will do new workouts from the gym with different durations, disciplines and musical genres.
Thinking of all those who have never played sports or who are re-engaging, the Absolute Beginner program of Fitness + will teach them the basics of movement and exercise, and it will give them the option to prepare for the Studio Workouts. Importantly, many workouts can be performed without equipment or with a simple set of dumbbells, although it is also possible to do a treadmill session with Fitness + on machines compatible with Apple’s GymKit to connect the Apple Watch and synchronize the records.
Apple ensures that all personalized recommendations are made on the device and neither the calories nor the chosen workouts and trainers are associated with the Apple ID
At its launch, Fitness + will feature a team of celebrated trainers and specialists in their field: from professional athletes to yoga instructors and personal trainers, to martial arts specialists, wellness coaches, gymnasts, Ironman champions, marathoners, winners of awards, fitness club founders and many more.
When it comes to privacy, all recommendations used to personalize the experience are made on the device. That way, when using Fitness +, all training data is saved in the Health app iPhone and neither the calories nor the chosen workouts and trainers are associated with the Apple ID.
