Pac-Man turned 40 last May and Bandai Namco made several important announcements to commemorate this event. Nintendo revealed a major partnership with Hasbro to produce board games based on Super Mario, and Bandai Namco’s legendary mascot Pac-Man was not far behind, as in its 40th anniversary year it announced that it will also have a game. Monopoly board game based on the iconic arcade game mechanics and will even feature a functional mini arcade.
In this special edition of Pac-Man, the difference is that instead of getting money, players will have to go in search of points. It is for this reason that there will be no bills, but 4 coins, one for each player.
During the game, players can take over squares, which in this version will be levels. The way to do it will be using the accumulated points. Whoever manages to have the most points at the end of the game will win. However, the mission will not be so simple, since on the board there will be a ghost that will move every turn and that the players will have to avoid to avoid getting into trouble.
In case you missed it: artificial intelligence was able to recreate Pac-Man without the need for a game engine.
Pac-Man Monopoly will include a functional mini arcade
The most interesting mechanic of this Monopoly is that by going through the « Go » box, players will be able to use the mini-arcade, with which they will be able to play a Pac-Man minigame to increase their score and keep score, since it will also have the function from the bank.
The game will be on sale from next August 1 in physical stores, although you can also find it on Amazon in exchange for $ 30 USD. It will include several level cards, 4 character tokens, 1 ghost token, 4 coins, 2 dice, 1 board, and 1 functional mini-arcade.
