Bel-Air is the name of the next series inspired by the hit 1990 show that brought Will Smith to fame. Unlike the Prince of Rap, this new project will arrive as a drama that, without revealing details of the plot, has already revealed its protagonists.
For the lead role of Will, the unknown Jabari Banks was chosen by the production. The young actor without much experience auditioned for the lead role that once catapulted Smith, through a live video the interpreter of Men in Black congratulated his successor.
The rest of the cast is made up of Adrian Holmes (V-Wars) as Philip Banks; Cassandra Freeman (Somewhere in the middle) as Vivian Banks; Olly Sholotan (Run Hide Fight) is Carlton Banks; Coco Jones (Let it shine) as Hilary Banks; Akira Akbar (We can be heroes) plays Ashley Banks; Jordan L. Jones (Rel) is Jazz; Jimmy Akingbola (Spectral) as Geoffrey and Simone Joy Jones (The son of no one) plays Lisa.
In addition to the Prince of Rap, the series is inspired by a four-minute short film directed by Morgan Cooper. The 2019 short was also titled Bel-Air and follows the plot about the young man who after getting into trouble is sent by his mother to the Bel-Air neighborhood with his uncles.
