A giant crocodile was captured and killed by authorities in Queensland, Australia. What they found was shocking.
Andrew Heard left his home to do his trade: fishing. He was 69 years old and just hoped to finish his journey to return home. A giant crocodile got in the way.
Australian authorities found Heard’s remains inside a saltwater crocodile, they reported country media. The man had been lost off the coast of Queensland since February 11.
The fisherman’s boat was found overturned at dawn on the 12th, showing damage that was attributed to the reptile. In the night, pieces of a human appeared. Everything indicated that they were from Heard.
The next day, authorities found the 4.2-meter-long saltwater crocodile. They killed him: in his entrails were the remains of the unfortunate fisherman.
This is a giant crocodile
Saltwater crocodiles, or giant crocodiles, as they are commonly known, can measure up to 7 meters. They live in coastal waters of the western Pacific, from India to Australia.
This type of crocodiles, also called marine, estuarine or porous, are the largest in the world. Males can weigh between 1,000 and 1,500 kilograms, while females reach 500 kilos, with a maximum length of 3.5 meters.
It is an opportunistic carnivore that devours all kinds of animals … including humans. With the most powerful bite in the animal kingdom and 66 teeth that destroy what they want, their diet is just a matter of having their prey close.
Unfortunately, that day was the unfortunate Heard.
