This week, esports took an important step on their path to being recognized as a legitimate discipline. What happens is that it was confirmed that they will be a competition that will give medals as prizes at the 2020 Asia Games.
Last Wednesday, December 16, the General Assembly of the Olympic Council of Asia (OCA) was held. There, those responsible for the council announced that esports, as well as breakdancing, received authorization to appear as disciplines in the 2020 Asia Games.
This means that, in the competition that will take place from September 10 to 25, 2022, there will be different esports competitions. The most interesting thing is that the winners will receive medals as prizes for their performance.

At the moment, it is unknown which video games will be part of the 2020 Asia Games. That said, in the 2018 Asia Games there was a pilot program with competitions from League of Legends, Arena of Valor, Pro Evolutionn Soccer 2018, StarCraft II, Hearthstone and Clash Royale. It is a data that serves to give us an idea of what we can expect for the Asian Games 2022.
