Several announcements of transfers, arrivals and departures took place last night in the NBA, here are the main ones.

If the transfer of Vincent Poirier from Boston to Oklahoma City is the one that caught the attention of the French side last night, other transactions took place, one month and three days before the start of the NBA season. Still concerning Boston, Shams Charania, of ., revealed that Gordon Hayward had decided to give up his last season at 34 million dollars to become a free agent. The 30-year-old winger (or strong wing), who shot 17.5 points, 6.7 rebounds and 4.1 assists last season, will therefore discover a third franchise, after Utah and the Celtics. It remains to be seen which one.

Enes Kanter (28), the pivot of Boston, has meanwhile decided to exercise his option to stay one more season, for $ 5 million. The Celtics, however, have decided not to exercise their option on the 31-year-old point guard Brad Wanamaker, who is therefore free. Aside from Gordon Hayward’s departure, the main announcement of the night comes as soon-to-25-year-old winger Kelly Oubre Jr will arrive at Golden State from Oklahoma City in exchange for a first-round pick of the 2021 draft. The Thunder had just picked it up as part of Chris Paul’s transfer to Phoenix. Oubre, who averaged 18.7 points and 6.4 rebounds last season with the Suns, arrives in particular to compensate for the absence of Klay Thompson, victim of a torn Achilles tendon and who will not play this season.

McGee stays with the Lakers, Bradley doesn’t

Several players have decided to activate their “player option” and therefore remain in their franchise: Oklahoma City pivot Mike Muscala (29), Boston winger (or pivot) Kelly Olynyk (29) and Lakers pivot JaVale McGee (32). Houston full-back David Nwaba (27), meanwhile, saw the Rockets activate their “team option” to keep him, as did Oklahoma City full-back (or winger) Hamidou Diallo. On the other hand, other players are leaving their franchise: the strong winger (or pivot) Thon Maker (23), not retained by the Pistons, the strong winger (or pivot) Frank Kaminsky (27), not retained by Phoenix, back (or winger) Garrett Temple (34), not retained by Brooklyn, Lakers back Avery Bradley (30), who has not activated his “player option”, just like the winger strong JaMychal Green (30) with the Clippers, point guard Quinn Cook (27), cut by the Lakers and strong winger Ersan Ilyasova (33), cut by Milwaukee.

The New York Knicks have meanwhile separated from three players, declining their “team option” for strong winger (or pivot) Bobby Portis (25) and cutting strong winger (or pivot) Taj Gibson ( 35) and point guard Elfrid Payton (26). A trade also occurred between Detroit and Atlanta: the Pistons sent 24-year-old full-back Khyri Thomas to the Hawks and in exchange receive Dewayne Dedmon, the 31-year-old pivot. Finally, Utah sent 31-year-old strong winger (or pivot) Ed Davis to New York, as well as two second-round picks of the 2023 Draft in New York, to free up the payroll.
