Pedro Sánchez, President of the Spanish government, announced the resumption of the 2019-2020 season, after almost three months of unemployment by the Covid-19.

Two weeks to raise the curtain …

With the approval of the health and government authorities, the League of Spain will resume the 2019-2020 season on Monday June 8, after almost three months of suspension by the Covid-19 pandemic, confirmed this Saturday Pedro Sánchez, President of the goverment.

During his telematic conference, the politician explained that the tournament has the endorsement of Higher Sports Council (CSD) and of the Ministries of Health, Culture and Sports (MECD) to restart with competition in two weeks.

“Spain has done what it should and now new horizons are opening for everyone. The time has come to recover many of the daily activities. The soccer league will return from June 8 ”Sánchez reported.

The First division of Spain was suspended on March 12, after the Real Madrid announced that all its club members, athletes from all disciplines, staff and managers entered into cuarentena for a positive case of coronavirus.

Until now, Iberian clubs can now train in small groups within its facilities for the return of the competition, whose leader is the Barcelona with 58 units, followed by Real Madrid that has two less.

It is expected that, by that date, several cities in the country have sanitary conditions to guarantee the restart of all professional sports, since they would enter the phase three of the pandemic, reason why other recreational and cultural centers would also reopen.
