Broadway show actor Nick Cordero died after a hard battle with the effects of the coronavirus.
Lamb’s wife, Amanda Kloots, was the one who broke the news via Instagram: « God has another angel in heaven now. My dear husband passed away this morning. He was surrounded by love for his family, singing and praying as he gently left this land. «
« I’m incredulous and it hurts everywhere. My heart is broken because I can’t imagine our lives without him. Nick was such a bright light. He was everyone’s friend, he loved listening, helping and especially talking. He was an amazing actor and musician. He loved his family and loved being a father and a husband. Elvis and I will miss him in everything we do, every day, « Kloots said.
Cordero, 41, nominated for the Tony Award, was hospitalized in Los Angeles in March after contracting COVID-19, a disease for which he suffered several severe complications and had to amputate a leg.
A few days ago, after three months after being admitted, the actor woke up from the coma and failed the coronavirus test, but his wife reported that he needed a double lung transplant.
Born and raised in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada, Cordero’s big break was in the lead role in the off-Broadway hit « The Toxic Avenger » (2009). He was Dennis in « Rock of Ages » (2012), both on Broadway and on tour. As Cheech in « Bullets Over Broadway », he won the Outer Critics Circle Award.
Cordero appeared in « Waitress » (2016) and « A Bronx Tale » (2016), the latter earning him a Drama Desk Award nomination.
Along with his stage appearances, Cordero had worked on television in « Queer as Folk » (2005) and « Blue Bloods » (2017-2018), and in the films « Don Juan » (2011), « A Stand Up Guy » « (2016), » Going in Style « (2017), » Inside Game « (2019) and its final film, » Mob Town « (2019).
