The new Huawei folding is inspired by the Galaxy Z Fold 2 and boasts a spectacular zoom

Huawei has presented the Mate X2, its new high-end terminal with a folding screen. This successor to the Mate Xs is inspired by the Galaxy Z Fold 2 and debuts a new hinge that promises a better opening experience. In addition, it renews its camera with a 50 megapixel main sensor and 10x optical zoom.

One of the highlights of the Huawei Mate X2 is its new design. Unlike the original model, the large screen unfolds from the inside. It is a panel 8 inch OLED with a resolution of 2,480 x 2,200 pixels and a sampling frequency of 90 Hz.

Huawei’s new terminal, like the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 2, it also has a second screen to use closed. In this case, it is a panel 6.45 inch OLED with a resolution of 2,700 x 1,160 pixels and a sampling frequency of 90 Hz.

The new hinge of the Mate X2 allows a 180 degree opening. This has a double rotation system that unfolds the internal screen smoothly. From Huawei they assure that they have used “many innovative high-tech materials” to achieve a resistant structure over time.

The Mate X2 features a four rear camera module: a 50 megapixel main sensor, a 16 megapixel wide angle, a 12 megapixel telephoto sensor and a camera 8 megapixel “Super Zoom” with 10x optical zoom. The front has a 16 megapixel sensor.

The company has also decided to equip its new terminal with its own processor. Its about Kirin 9000, a chip that we already saw in the Mate 40 Pro last year. This is combined with 8 GB of RAM and a 4400 mAh battery compatible with fast charging up to 55 W. Mind you, no wireless charging around here.

One point to keep in mind is that the Mate X2 arrives with EMUI 11, but no Google apps or services. However, the company has stated in the presentation that it plans to upgrade this terminal to HarmonyOS from April.
