Former Secretary of State and former US presidential candidate Hillary Clinton.
Hillary Clinton and Louise Penny co-write mystery novel
Hillary Rodham Clinton, one of the most famous followers of mystery novels, is now writing one.
Clinton teamed up with her friend, novelist Louise Penny, for State of Terror. The plot could happen to someone like her: a “rookie” secretary of state who works for the government of a rival politician and tries to solve a wave of terrorist attacks. The novel will be published on October 12 jointly by Clinton’s publishers, Simon & Schuster, and Penny’s, St. Martin’s Press.
“Writing a thriller with Louise is a dream come true,” Clinton, who has expressed admiration for Penny and other mystery writers in the past, said in a statement released Tuesday. “I have enjoyed each of his books and characters, as well as his friendship. Now we put our experiences together to explore the complex world of high-stakes diplomacy and treason. Not everything is what it seems”.
Penny, an award-winning Canadian author whose novels include The Cruelest Month and The Brutal Telling, said in a statement that she couldn’t say “yes quickly enough” to the opportunity to work with Clinton.
Writing fiction and worst-case scenarios have become a favorite pastime for Clinton and her husband, former President Bill Clinton. The former president collaborated with James Patterson on the hit cyber thriller The President is Missing and will publish a new novel, The President’s Daughter, in June.
