It’s not (yet) a record, but it’s crazy. Traveling to the Emirates Stadium to challenge Arsenal on Sunday afternoon, Manchester City has chained its 18th consecutive victory, including 12 in the Premier League! Pep Guardiola’s men need to do a little more to beat their record-breaking streak of 18 league wins (in the historic 2017-18 season), but they are obviously in the lead, with 10 points ahead of Leicester and United.
One goal was enough for the Citizens against the formation of Mikel Arteta (0-1). Entry, Raheem sterling opened the scoring, picking up a cross from Riyad Mahrez (2nd). But the Mancunians then did not know how to take shelter. Kevin De Bruyne, back in the starting lineup, notably missed a break goal (48th). Bernardo Silva had been lined up at the forefront, while Gabriel Jesus took over in the second half. Note that Aymeric Laporte and Benjamin Mendy remained on the bench.
Lacazette launched in the second half
On the London side, the Gunners had very few chances, like a Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang transparent at the tip. Alexandre lacazette and Emile Smith-Rowe were launched in place of Nicolas Pepe and Martin Odegaard (73rd) and only Bukayo Saka had a small opportunity to equalize (76th). Arsenal, defeated for the 11th time this season in PL, stagnates again and again in the middle of the table (10th).
