The Euroleague is getting closer to being permanently suspended due to the health crisis in the coronavirus. After meeting with the players who play the competition, the organization of the European tournament has received a massive ‘no’ on the return to the fields. This news did not come as a surprise, since in recent days it was already coming forward.

This has been confirmed by the journalist of Eurohoops, Varlas Nikos, through his official social networks. The meeting between the players and the Euroleague took place in a cordial tone and without serious incidents between the participants.

The final decision about whether or not to return to normality and dispute the remainder of the competition will have to be made next Monday. Before Tomic, captain of the Barcelona Lassa, he made some statements this Saturday in which he was very pessimistic about it:

“Resuming a competition like the Euroleague is difficult. With the ACB it is easier because in the end everything is played in Spain. The Euroleague has a different way of managing things and the teams would have to travel throughout Europe.”

Those in charge of deciding whether to proceed or not will be the 11 licensed teams that have been called for a telematic shareholders’ meeting. With six teams voting ‘yes’ to suspend the competition, the Euroleague will not be played. Among those teams are Real Madrid, Barça Lassa and Saski Baskonia.
