LG launches the most affordable version of the LG Velvet with a Snapdragon 800 series processor.

As planned, LG has released a cheaper version of the Velvet, its reference smartphone for this year 2020, which stands out from the rest of the models for having a very different streamlined and elegant design what the Korean had us used to. This new version comes with the name of LG Velvet 4G, and as its name suggests, it is a model that dispenses with the 5G modem in order to offer a more adjusted price.

And the truth is that it succeeds. He LG Velvet 4G arrives in Europe at a price of 499 euros, a figure significantly lower than the 699 euros that the original model costs.

Do not expect to find differences in the design of the terminal with respect to the previous model: Velvet 4G aesthetics remain intact compared to the original version, so we continue to find the same 6.8-inch diagonal P-OLED Full HD + screen with aspect ratio of 20.5: 9, and the same glass and aluminum body with pronounced curvatures both on the front and on the back.

Nor does the photographic section change, which is still made up of a 48 megapixel main camera resolution with OIS, which is accompanied by an 8-megapixel ultra-wide-angle sensor and a 5-megapixel macro sensor. The same 16-megapixel front camera is also present.

This is the LG Velvet 4G

The only changes, therefore, are found inside: in this model, LG bets on Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 845 processor, a chip from two generations ago, which replaces the Snapdragon 765G that gives life to the LG Velvet 5G. The performance of both platforms should be similar – although there will be changes in terms of energy efficiency, since the Snapdragon 765G is a 7 nanometer chip, while the Snapdragon 845 is 10 – and the only important difference is found in the lack of 5G modem. Also, RAM memory drops to 6GB, although in some countries versions of the Velvet were already sold with this same amount of memory.

The Velvet 4G has begun its wanderings through European territory starting with Germany, where it is already for sale at a price of 499 euros. It is unknown whether, sooner or later, the terminal will end up reaching other European regions.
