Rock and techno are the worst for stressful times
According to Mixmag magazine, it turns out that the Vera Clinic hired Dr. Ömer Avlanmış to conduct research on the effectiveness of music in calming anxiety. For him they turned to 1,540 volunteers between the ages of 18 and 65, who were equipped with heart rate and blood pressure monitors, and were also given playlists of different musical genres to listen to.

What is the best music to calm anxiety?
On the other hand, the same research revealed that pop from the 80s and 2000s, along with heavy metal classics –As strange as it may seem– they are the best music to listen to when we think that anxiety eats us, as they decreased the heart rate of the volunteers. And despite everything, this conclusion has a scientific explanation, at least that is what the doctor explains Ömer Avlanmış:
“Medically it makes a lot of sense. The pop hits of the 80s could have a positive nostalgia linked to many people, and their happy and party sounds can induce the release of endorphins and serotonin in the brain, increasing feelings of happiness and calm. As for heavy metal, I would observe that angry music can help listeners to process their feelings and, as a result, bring about greater well-being. ”
