Just a year after releasing ‘Lover’, Taylor Swift returns to the music scene with his new work, ‘Folklore’. The American singer, who started in the world singing country-style songs, is one of the most successful today, and each release mobilizes a large legion of fans and the industry.
It was last Friday, July 24, when Swift released his eighth studio album almost by surprise, because it was announced on social networks a few hours before to be officially published. Produced during the COVID-19 pandemic, it moves away from the genre that the artist usually works, approaching alternative rock, indie folk, electro-folk and chamber pop.
Although there were people who believed that the change in tone in ‘Folklore’ could “annoy” the artist’s fans, nothing could be further from reality: sold 1.3 million copies in just 24 hours, and has become one of the albums with the most views on its release on Spotify and Apple Music.
35.47 million views on Apple Music, a new record
Taylor Swift has shaken the streaming music industry with ‘Folklore’. Beyond the 1.3 million albums sold in 24 hours, it has broken the record for an album by a female artist on Spotify with 79.4 million views. Too Apple Music has a prize: 35.47 million views, a record on the Cupertino platform.
As we have said, the album emerged during the COVID-19 pandemic, as it was written, produced and released after having to modify its plans to tour. She is not the only artist who has taken advantage of these hard months to create, since the British Charli XCX also released ‘How I’m Feeling Now’ in mid-May, taking advantage of self-confinement to carry it out, and only a few months after releasing his third studio album, ‘Charli’, on September 13, 2019.
‘Folklore’ can now be heard on Apple Music. If you have not yet tried the Cupertino streaming music platform, you have a three-month free trial to assess if you like it and subscribe to it once it ends.
Listen to your favorite songs with Apple Music, Apple’s subscription music service compatible with iPhone, iPad and Mac, now with a three-month free trial. Then only 9.99 euros a month.
