As of this writing, WWE SummerSlam is slated for the Performance Center in Orlando, Florida, but company officials are considering moving the event to another location.
In an update to the PWInsider Elite Audio program, Mike Johnson reported that at least one outdoor location is under consideration.
WWE SummerSlam could happen on the beach or on a boat
Johnson said talks have been going on about moving the show to the beach or to a large ship where some, if not all, of the pay-per-view struggles would take place.
It is unknown what has been decided, but presumably a decision will be made soon as they would want to announce this on WWE television. An outdoor location would greatly reduce the chances of exposure to COVID-19, so that’s another reason to get PPV out of the PC.
WCW held Bash at the Beach events on the beach in the mid-1990s. As recently as this year, AEW recorded Dynamite on Chris Jericho’s cruise.
We have to see if WWE dabbles in this idea, and plans some special stipulations, which would undoubtedly be fresh and interesting in these times of crisis.
