According to a study by the Juegaterapia Foundation (via Levante), playing video games can relieve pain in children with cancer by 30%. As they explain, gaming can help reduce the suffering of children during the pediatric treatment of this disease by reducing pain and discomfort derived from mucositis after chemotherapy.

Another benefit that was found is that the decrease in perceived pain related to severe mucositis also led to a 20% reduction in the daily morphine dose given to these children. The vagal tone of his parasympathetic system also increased by 14%, associated with physiological recovery.

To reach this conclusion, we analyzed data from children with cancer who played video games between 2 and 3 hours a day. It is worth mentioning that it is the first study of this type to be carried out, so we will have to wait for further research to know in depth all the benefits it can have.
