The steak and kidney pie is a traditional dish of British cuisine with ground beef and liver, vegetables and gravy.

To prepare the steak and kidney pie, you need the following ingredients:

500 gr of beef (1 lb)
1 Carrot, diced
1 Onion, diced
500 g of kidneys (1 lb)
1 garlic clove finely chopped

250 gr of chopped mushrooms (½ lb)
1 cup of vegetables
2 tablespoons olive oil
1 tablespoon cornstarch

Preparation

In a skillet over medium high heat, add the olive oil and when it is hot, add the ground beef and a tablespoon of salt. Stir and cook until the meat is browned, this takes about 5-7 minutes. Add the kidneys and stir with the ground beef, cook until golden brown, then remove from heat. Reserve.In another skillet over medium heat, add the carrot, garlic, celery, onion and mushrooms. Stir and cook for 5 minutes or until the carrot is slightly tender and the mushrooms turn slightly golden. In a saucepan or other pan, heat the vegetable broth and stir in the cornstarch while stirring. Cook until you get a gravy texture. Add the meat mixture and the vegetable mixture in a bowl along with the gravy and stir well. Cover a mold with the puff pastry and add the mixture of ingredients as a filling. Cover with another puff pastry and remove the edges.
Using a food brush, paint the egg and make a few cuts to prevent the puff pastry from bursting. Bake at 350 ° F (180 ° C) for 30 minutes or until the puff pastry turns a golden color. Serve and enjoy You can accompany this pie with some baked potatoes.
