Samsung It has avoided getting into the battery charging speed race for many years, with loads as low as 45W in recent years at its flagships, but broadly behind other manufacturers.
The Galaxy S22 series would mark a before and after for the company in the matter, since a new rumor ensures that Samsung would add support for fast charging of up to 65W for the top-of-the-range variants of the series, probably the Ultra variant.
For comparison, the Galaxy S21 series only supports loads of up to 25W when the competition has already broken the 100W barrier.
The rumor comes from the Leaker FrontTron, who assured that “the 65W fast charge is under testing for the ‘Rainbow RGB'”, which would be the code name for the Galaxy S22 series, with R, G and B being the S22 , S22 Plus and S22 Ultra, respectively.
While we believe that Samsung could add this 65W fast charging support only on the Ultra model, the coherent thing at this stage would be to include it in the entire Galaxy S22 series to at least match the competition. Of course, perhaps we should not expect the 45W charger to be included with the phones.
