Sony wants to adapt to the small screen the memories of ex-Playboy Playmate Holly Madison. The study has been done with the rights to the book, « Down the Rabbit Hole: Curious Adventures and Cautionary Tales of a Former Playboy Bunny », and prepares a miniseries that will star actress and model Samara Weaving (‘Hollywood’).
Samara Weaving as ex-bunny Holly Madison
Released in 2015, « Down the Rabbit Hole » stayed at the top of the New York Times bestseller list for several weeks. According to Sony, the series will look beyond the shiny facade of the Playboy brand to represent the intimate, often deeply damaging stories of the women who entered following a dream and were manipulated, controlled and abused by machinery.
Australian screenwriter Marieke hardy (‘Nowhere Boys’) will adapt the book and write the script. Will gluck (‘The Michael J. Fox Show’) and Richard Schwartz (‘Woke’) will executive produce alongside Judith Verno (‘Masters of Sex’). There is still no network linked to the project, but it is expected that it will attract the interest of a premium cable channel or a streaming platform.
A very television figure
Madison, famous for being one of Hugh Hefner’s girlfriends, is no stranger to television. He appeared on the reality show E! ‘The Girls Next Door’ who followed the lives of the main bunnies from the popular adult magazine and even had her own show, ‘Holly’s World’, which was also broadcast on E! for two seasons. In addition, he participated in ‘Dancing With the Stars’. In his second book published in 2016, « The Vegas Diaries: Romance, Rolling the Dice, and the Road to Reinvention », the model recounted her life in Las Vegas and how she managed to reinvent herself as a successful writer.
