Just a few days ago, Ryan Murphy gave us the first image of ‘The Prom’, the film he has prepared for Netflix based on the Broadway musical of the same name. The creator has wanted to bring to the small screen this theatrical work that, as he himself has affirmed, has moved him so much and we already have a date for all of us to feel part of this dance.
Cast of ‘The Prom’
‘The Prom’ premieres December 11 on Netflix, coinciding with the clue that Murphy gave in which he called Christmas to be able to enjoy his new job. This project has countless well-known faces, such as Meryl Streep, Nicole Kidman, Kerry Washington or James Corden, among many others, who managed to finish filming the film once the Covid-19 pandemic started.
It is a relatively young musical, and it was released in 2016. However, the person in charge of ‘Ratched’ was fascinated by its originality, its commitment to the less popular of the institute and how it moves towards human rights and the LGTB collective. « I felt a special connection to him because it is set in Indiana, where I grew up, » said Ryan Murphy in the project announcement.
A dance to celebrate
The characters played by Meryl Streep, Nicole Kidman, James Corden and Andrew Rannells have the ideal mission to relaunch their Broadway careers which, at the moment, are in low hours. The four accept the request for help from the character played by Jo Ellen Pellman, a young man from Indiana who wants to be able to take his girlfriend to the prom that has been canceled. The four actors will have great complications along the way to celebrate this event, like the conservative society that surrounds the young woman.
