Recently, a report by VGC mentioned that not one, but two Silent Hill games are in development. One of these could be done by Bloober Team, while the other would be developed by a renowned Japanese studio. However, what about the other Konami franchises? Well, the same medium mentions that new Castlevania and Metal Gear Solid titles are also in the plans of this company.
According to Andy Robinson, VGC journalist and reporter for Silent Hill, Konami is keen to bring back the Castlevania and Metal Gear Solid series from outside studios. Similarly, sources close to the media assure that the Japanese company had plans to revive these series for a long time, but the failure of Metal Gear Survive and Contra: Rogue Corps stopped these projects.
I’ve updated my Silent Hill piece with additional context on Konami’s strategy, via well-placed sources:
– Konami cooled on outsourcing IPs after MG Survive & Contra flops
– Supermassive Silent Hill pitch turned into Dark Pictures
– Plans to outsource Castlevania & MGS too– Andy Robinson (@AndyPlaytonic) February 18, 2021
Robinson mentions that these projects are in an early stage and are still several years away. As always, this is just a rumor, and at the moment there is no official information from Konami. You can learn more about the supposed Silent Hill games here.
