He is already at home beginning the recovery process from the surgery that a few days ago they performed on his left knee, in which he had a couple of fractures, after suffering a fall at home last week.

Carty, 81, was operated on by Dr. Marcelo Puello at the Clinic of the Central University of the East, a process that lasted about two hours and in which a prosthesis was placed to replace his deteriorated knee, whose first problems arose in 1970 when collided dramatically with Mateo Alou, while fielding a hit in a game at the Quisqueya stadium.

After successfully exiting this operation, Carty is resting at home under the care of his wife, Leidy García, and their 17-year-old daughter Hilary. “I want to thank God first and then the President of the Republic, Luis Abinader, the Director of Senasa, Santiago Hazim, Dr. Puello for the excellent work he did in surgery, people like Junior Noboa, the Minister of Sports , Francisco Camacho, the journalist Héctor Gómez among others for the effort they made to receive this surgical intervention, ”Carty said from home.

Maintaining the good genius that has characterized him for decades, the National League champion batting .366 in 1970, he maintained “Now I feel like the bionic man and I hope to recover as soon as possible.

Even Abinader’s management was not left alone in the surgery performed, he also sent a therapist named Franklin to contribute with his therapies in the speedy recovery of the former Major League Baseball player.

According to the process, it is expected that in about three weeks Carty can begin to take steps on his own.

“Carty, I gave birth to a child, Dr. Puello had told his patient, after he began to wake up after the anesthesia passed.”

“I could not see when the next day they showed me what they extracted from my knee, I hope to walk again with the help of God and following the recommendations of my doctor and the therapist who will begin to help me in my final recovery,” said the player, who spent 15 major league seasons in which he hit .299 for life.
