renewed and easily recognizable appearance

The Fiat Tipo 2021 is renewed with a restyling that we will see on the road from next year. The update also reaches the engine offering, which starts with a gasoline and a diesel at the time of launch, and is also expanded into a new Type Cross conceived as a crossover ‘Type-style’.

The first details of this restyling transcended in May 2020, although it was not until the end of October that we have seen the vehicle in all its splendor. The new Type, a renewal of the generation that was introduced in 2015, is available in hatchback, sedan and estate bodies.

Among its rivals are models such as the Skoda Scala or the Citroën C-Elysée.

FIAT TIPO 2021: EXTERIOR

The 2021 Fiat Tipo debuts a renewed look that is easily distinguishable from its predecessor. One of the most notable changes is the renewal of the brand’s emblem, which abandons its traditional design to adopt the scheme that debuted in the Centoventi Concept. Only this element can already distinguish it from the version that debuted in 2015.

The central grill has also been renewed. It now takes on a sharper, longer look, extending to the middle of the headlights instead of ‘dying’ at the start. The chrome finish that decorates the grille, more subtle, minimalist, is also a new creation.

The review also reaches the underside of the car, where the most noteworthy aspect is the incorporation of a chrome finish that surrounds the fog lamps and that fuses both optical groups with a horizontal strip.

The lights are full-led both at the front and at the rear. The car is available in four- and five-door bodies, and also as a station wagon. And there is a variant Type Cross that adds a crossover touch, with a specific bumper and reinforced protections for the underbody.

The Type Cross is seven centimeters taller than the original model thanks to a specific suspension preparation and a new treatment of the wheels and tires similar to that seen in the Fiat 500X. Your grill also receives a personalized treatment.

FIAT TIPO 2021: INTERIOR

The Fiat Tipo 2021 debuts a new interior. The instrument panel is a seven-inch digital screen and replaces the old analog scheme, while the center console debuts a 10.25-inch touch screen that centralizes the infotainment system. It comes directly from the new Fiat 500. It drinks from the Uconnect 5 system, with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and simultaneous connection of two phones via Bluetooth

The steering wheel is more compact and smaller, and has been designed to maximize the visibility of the instrument panel. The brand has also introduced chrome and black finishes to the dashboard.

FIAT TIPO 2021: EQUIPMENT

Drivers will be able to equip their Type with the D-Fence by Mopar Pack, which consists of a filter that prevents particles and impurities from the outside – also allergens – from entering the interior, a cabin air purifier and a UV lamp to clean surfaces contact of the vehicle.

The driver aids included in the Type 2021 are traffic sign recognition, intelligent speed assist with speed recommendation, fatigue alert, blind spot detector, parking sensors and adaptive lights to the road.

FIAT TIPO 2021: MECHANICAL

The 2021 Fiat Tipo offers a gasoline and two diesel engines at launch, although it is possible that it will expand this offer in the coming months.

In gasoline, the engine is a GSE T3 of 1.0 liters and 100 horsepower, with a maximum torque of 190 Newton meters. It is a notable increase over the outgoing propeller, a 1.4 of 127 Newton meter. It emits 121 grams of carbon dioxide per kilometer –WLTP–.

In Diesel, the access option is a 95 horsepower MultiJet engine. The top of the range has 130 horses, instead of 120 as in the outgoing version. Its emissions start at 110 grams of carbon dioxide per kilometer –WLTP–.

During its gestation it had been rumored that the new Type could be added to the electrification bandwagon, like the Fiat 500 and the Fiat Panda, with some kind of microhybridization that would help reduce consumption and emissions. This option was not announced at the time of its launch.
