RC Cannes back on the podium

Taking advantage of the setbacks of Nantes, Cannet and Venelles on Tuesday, RC Cannes returned to the podium in the Women’s League A for the benefit of its clear success against France Avenir 2024 at the end of the 19th day.

RC Cannes had a great opportunity. While Nantes, Le Cannet and Venelles all bowed this Tuesday at the opening of the 19th day, the players of Filippo Schiavo could make a very good close in the ranking of the Women’s League A in the event of a clear victory over France Avenir 2024. And, against a team that has won only one of its first 17 league outings this season, another result that a large success would have been a fault for the Cannes. Faced with a young team in search of experience, the RC Cannes players stammered their volleyballl early in the match, never having more than two points in advance when they were not behind. The situation suddenly changed when, while the two teams were tied, Micaya White’s teammates (14 points) put a big boost. A series of ten consecutive points gave them a clear mattress and the first set.

This huge air gap undoubtedly annoyed the players of Emile Rousseaux and Laurent Delacourt, who started the second set with the bit between their teeth. Halimatou Bah’s teammates (14 points) took the lead in the race but never made a difference against a team from RC Cannes who remained on the lookout. In the “money time”, the latter raised the tone and, winning four of the last six points, made the break in this meeting. If the third round started with fanfare for the Cannes, the players of France Avenir 2024 were able to respond with five consecutive points to come back to height but, despite their fighting spirit, the latter gave in to Bernadett Dékany (11 points) and s’ bow in three sets (25-15, 25-23, 25-21). A victory which allows RC Cannes to regain third place in the standings, tied on points with Nantes.
