Pumas UNAM: Results and combinations they need to qualify for the Repechage or League

The Matchday 17 of Closing 2021 of the MX League promises action and emotions in each of its matches, because in all of them something will be at stake in this season finale, at least ‘on paper’, since the only match that could lack an extra ingredient would be the Classic Capitalino between the Pumas de la UNAM and Club América.

For this vibrant meeting, the spirits of academics could arrive on the ground, because in the worst case scenario they would be eliminated even without playing against the hated rival, leaving only pride and the three points that will remain in the anecdote at stake.

As it is the last game in the schedule for Day 17, Pumas will have to have the candle lit since Thursday, when the Tuzos del Pachuca face Atlético San Luis, because in this game, the University students need the Potosinos to surprise and don’t lose to the Tuzos. If Pachuca wins on Thursday, Pumas would be almost eliminated.

For Saturday, Pumas would expect victories from León and Cruz Azul against Gallos and Xolos, in addition to a victory for Rayados against Mazatlán.

The key matches for Pumas are Gallos and Xolos, because if at least one of these two teams loses, a window would be opening for the Repechage, as long as Pachuca has not won.

If Pachuca wins on Thursday, Pumas would need both Mazatlán and Gallos to lose, as there would only be one place within their reach.

Regarding Xolos Tijuana, Pumas could surpass it as long as they do not beat Cruz Azul.

In summary, the results that Pumas needs to qualify for the Repechage are: That Pachuca does not win against San Luis. If they win, their options would be reduced, although they would still have a chance. That Mazatlán does not score points against Rayados; o Querétaro does not add to Club León In addition to those results, I would need Tijuana not to win against Cruz Azul.
