At the Premios Juventud he won the New Male Generation award.
Puerto Rican urban artist Jay Wheeler, one of the great promises of the genre, released his new single and music video, Dos tragos, on Friday a day after winning the New Male Generation award at the Premios Juventud.
“I’m excited for people to listen to Two Drinks. There is always pressure to release new music – and I love doing it! – but I wanted to make sure this song was perfect for everyone to enjoy the way it should be enjoyed, “Wheeler said in a statement.
“I want people to sing it, ‘perree’ (dance well attached), and perhaps they will also feel inspired to take the first step with that crush (infatuation),” he added.
Two Drinks is Wheeler’s third single this year, following Seeing the Roof and his Valentine’s Day ballad, February Love, as detailed in the statement.
However, with Dos tragos the artist brings back a melodic reggaeton that shows his vocal range, as well as his ability to create catchy hooks that will make people dance.
Two Drinks tells the story of a boy who waits for the right moment to take the first step to meet a girl before he loses his chance.
In his short five-year career, Wheeler has released two albums produced by veteran Puerto Rican reggaeton producer DJ Nelson, Platónico (2019) and Platónicos (2020), which included the success that catapulted him to fame, La curiosidad, alongside Myke Towers.
