Sony Playstation 5 :
Those of you who regularly follow the Super Smash Bros. esports or competition scene are likely to know The Big House, a Smash Bros. championship which has been held since 2011 and has become one of the most important stops on the competitive calendar of the different Nintendo Smash Bros.
This year the organization of The Big House announced in July that the tournament could not be held in person due to the problems that the coronavirus pandemic is causing worldwide. A few days ago the organizers officially announced that they were going to celebrate the tournament through the internet between December 4 and 6 to avoid contagion risks or problems for the different participants to travel to the United States.

Slippi, the “tool” that has made Nintendo cancel the tournament
Days after this announcement The Big House received a notice from Nintendo prohibiting you from running the tournament, causing the organization to cancel it permanently. The reason for the intervention of Nintendo, who had not had problems with any other edition of The Big House, is that The organization had announced that players would be using a modified copy of Super Smash Bros. with Slippi, a tool not authorized by Nintendo that aims to improve netcode (the online code of the game) with the rollback technology that increasingly uses more fighting titles and that significantly improves the experience through the Internet.
The problem as we say, is that it is an unauthorized mod by Nintendo that causes modified copies of the game to be used. In fact, Big N itself has commented to Polygon that “the next Big House announced an online tournament that required the use of illegal versions of the game together with a mod called Slippi. Nintendo contacted the tournament organizers to ask them to stop. They refused and did not They left Nintendo with no choice but to intervene to protect their intellectual property and brands. Nintendo cannot tolerate or allow piracy of its intellectual property“.
