Outstanding image

Things remain the same so we are going to go directly to comment a little on the most important premieres of today, Friday 20.

As a most outstanding novelty, and before its arrival on Netflix, we have ‘Mank‘(Tripictures), the as always expected new film by a David Fincher and one of the main contenders for the next edition of the Oscars. Starring Gary Oldman, Tom Burke, Amanda Seyfried, Tuppence Middleton, Lily Collins, Tom Pelphrey, Arliss Howard, Sam Troughton, Ferdinand Kingsley, Joseph Cross, Jamie McShane, Toby Leonard Moore, Monika Gossmann and Charles Dance, the film, shot in Black and white and written by the filmmaker’s own (now deceased) father, it recounts how 1930s Hollywood viewed the scathing social critic and alcoholic screenwriter Herman J. Mankiewicz as he struggled to finish the script for ‘Citizen Kane’ to Orson Welles.

For its part, coinciding with its 30th anniversary it is re-released ‘Total challenge‘(39 Steps Films), the science fiction classic in which Arnold Schwarzenegger plays Douglas Quaid, a man who leads a seemingly peaceful life, haunted by a nightmare that transports him to Mars every night. He then decides to turn to the Recall laboratory, a virtual vacation company that offers him the opportunity to materialize his dream thanks to a strong hallucinogen.

Finally we will also talk about ‘De Gaulle‘(A Contracorriente Films), a biographical film that tells how in May 1940 France faced the military disaster of the German invasion. While Ptain is willing to surrender and negotiate with Hitler, General de Gaulle is committed to continuing the fight. This goal will endanger the lives of many French families, including De Gaulle himself.
