We live in a great age for music. Yes, it is very clear to us that the industry is having a hard time without live concerts and festivals, but strange as it may seem It is the moment when we have heard the most songsThis is thanks to the fact that many artists are taking advantage of the time without tours and confinement to compose and produce as if there were no tomorrow. And that’s just the case with a very talented musician, Porter Robinson.
As you may recall, exactly seven years ago the American DJ released his debut album, World, and since then we’ve waited for another record material to be released. Despite this, all this time he has spent playing all over the world and presenting songs with all kinds of artists, but fortunately that drought will end in 2021 because Porter returns and through the big door with an extremely ambitious project.
Porter Robinson returns with his second album
Some months ago, Porter Robinson announced that soon we will be able to listen to his second album, which will be named Nurture. This is an album that will feature 14 completely unreleased songs and of which he has presented us with a couple of advances such as “Mirror”, “Something Comforting” and “Get Your Wish”, but now he surprises us by releasing another song called “Look At The Sky”.
This theme is based on a highly refined piano melody, where the notes shine on their own accompanied by a soft beat and an acoustic guitar making subtle arpeggios. Robinson’s voice sounds flawless and mature, but also the fact that this song manages to make us feel good and as the title says, makes us think about how wonderful it is to just look at the sky (as we check with the Photos that left us the sunrise and sunset in CDMX).
He also presented us with a very interesting video
As if this wasn’t enough Porter also revealed the music video for this song, which was directed by Chris muir (who has worked with bands like Bring Me The Horizon) and featured the choreographer of stars like Billie Eilish, Justin Bieber and Selena Gomez, Matty peacock. The concept of the visual is very different from what the song transmits to us, because all the time we see the musician surrounded by ghosts.
About the idea, Porter mentioned in a statement that: “I wanted to represent the things that we all bring to this world, with each of our actions, for better or for worse, and how they endure even after we are gone. When we leave, let’s hope that the things we leave behind are useful and beautiful. ” It may contrast with the song’s feeling of hope, but it still maintains the essence.
Nurture, Porter Robinson’s second record material will be released on streaming platforms and physical format next April 23rd. But while we wait and to calm the cravings, Check out the official video of “Look At The Sky” below:
