11/16/2020 Database migration service without server GOOGLE INVESTIGATION AND TECHNOLOGY POLICY
MADRID, 16 (Portaltic / EP)
Google Cloud has announced the availability, in preview, of its serverless Database Migration Service (DMS), which allows users to migrate their MySQL, PostgreSQL and SQL Server databases to Cloud SQL from local environments or other clouds. be
DMS accelerates migration from existing company databases, or from other clouds, to Cloud SQL, allowing companies to benefit from unique integrations with Google Kubernetes Engine, for development, and BigQuery, for analytics.
The technology company has opted for a serverless approach, which eliminates the need to pay for specific computing resources for migration and through a guided and integrated configuration process.
Also, and as reported from Google in a statement, customers can benefit from the native replication capabilities of DMS and avoid incompatibilities between origin and destination, especially in operations with metadata.
DMS is currently available in preview. Customers can start migrating with DMS at no additional charge for native migrations comparable to Cloud SQL. PostgreSQL support is available to a limited number of customers in preview, and will be available with SQL Server shortly.
