One of the largest Pokémon GO events took place last weekend, in the form of a global virtual event, the Pokémon GO Fest 2020, which would replace face-to-face events organized in various countries to celebrate the anniversary of the game. Niantic had already revealed that the celebration was very successful, and today information emerged confirming that the event had such a good response that the mobile title experienced one of its best days in its history in terms of earnings. Due to the success, Niantic revealed that it will double its donations to combat racism.
The Pokémon GO Fest 2020 was celebrated on July 25 and 26 and, according to information from the analysis firm Sensor Tower (via GamesIndustry.biz), the excitement for the event caused players to spend a total of $ 17.5 MDD among those 2 days. The first day was when more profits were generated, with around $ 8.9 MDD, but the second was not far behind, since it was approximately $ 8.6 MDD that users spent. The day before the event, on Friday, July 24, there was an expense of around $ 7.8 MDD.
This is really impressive, since since 2016 the title had not performed as well in terms of daily earnings. Thanks to what players spent, July 25 became the best day of the game with the highest profits recorded since July 2016, the month of release in various parts of the world. According to information, on July 29, 2016, an expense of $ 13.3 MDD was recorded in a single day.
Find out: Thanks to the great work of the players in the Pokémon GO Fest 2020, special bonuses were unlocked.
Niantic to Double Its Donation to the Black Lives Matter Cause
The developer of the game announced amid protests in support of the fight against discrimination that it would help generate change through a donation of $ 5 million that would be obtained from the sale of tickets to the Pokémon GO Fest 2020.
Niantic did not disclose the detailed number of tickets sold for the Pokémon GO Fest 2020, but recently indicated that millions of players virtually attended the event. Well, the results were overwhelming, so Niantic revealed that it will double the initial figure to finally contribute more than $ 10 MDD to the Black Lives Matter movement.
As we informed you in June, half of what is generated by the sales of these tickets will go to financing black creatives working on new augmented reality projects. The other half will go to nonprofit organizations in the United States that help rebuild local communities.
In case you missed it: We already know when the next Community Day will take place and which will be the protagonist creature.
