PlayStation 5 debuted with a series of problems typical of the beginning of a new generation. Sony is already aware of some of the console flaws, so it decided to release the first firmware update for the system.

If you own a PlayStation 5, then take into account that Sony has already released the update 20.02-02.25.00. The company recommended updating the system to have the best possible user experience.

On the other hand, Sony also explained the different methods that exist to update the console successfully. Unfortunately, it did not detail the entire list of optimizations that the new firmware version includes.

PlayStation 5 update arrives with little news

According to the official PlayStation support site, the first firmware update for PlayStation 5 was released earlier today. The update notes only mention that adjustments were made to improve overall system performance.

“For the best possible PlayStation experience, always keep your PS5 console up-to-date with the latest version of the system software. By doing so, you will be able to enjoy various additional or enhanced features and increased security, “said Sony.

Although for now there is nothing confirmed, the update is expected to fix some of the annoying errors with which the system debuted. The update will occupy approximately 868 MB of space on your SSD drive.

How to update a PlayStation 5 to its latest firmware version?

There are several methods to update the console successfully. The first one is the automatic download, which will be activated the next time you use your PlayStation 5. If for some reason the process does not complete, then you will have to restart the update.

To do this you will have to go to Settings> System> System software> System software update and settings> System software update. Once there you will have to select the option Update from the Internet.

If the above does not work and you cannot complete the process, then you will have to download the update file from the support page, transfer it to a USB drive and update using safe mode. Here you can find the steps to achieve it.

As a last alternative, you can reset the console settings to the factory state only in the event that the update cannot be completed with any of the above methods. Finally, PlayStation offers a diagnostic tool on its site to solve other problems.
