The current bantamweight champion, Petr Yan, lashed out at the former champion of that division Cody Garbrandt, after the latter hinted at a possible fight for the title of the flyweight division he holds Deiveson Figueiredo.
Garbrandt, who came off a streak of three straight losses by dramatically beating Raphael Assuncao by KO in UFC 250, self-proclaimed as the # 1 contender in the flyweight division (despite not appearing on the official list), which makes his intention of a title fight in that category obvious. The Russian champion did not like this very much:
That moment when No Chin was walking to take a piss but ended peeing himself. You only bark but don’t bite and now you running away to flyweight division. Shut up while I will fight contenders who have balls to challenge me. https://t.co/aV0YkKOJJw pic.twitter.com/yvp1ompIxq

“That moment when[[Garbrandt]He went out to urinate but ended up urinating on himself. You only bark but you don’t bite And now you’re escaping to the flyweight division. Shut your mouth as I fight with contenders who have the balls to challenge meYan posted on his account twitter.
Yan, claimed the vacant bantamweight title prevailing over José Aldo earlier this month in the UFC 251, something that Garbrandt was not impressed with and even called “a poor performance.” For many, a fight between Garbrandt and Yan had a good narrative, as the video from the twitter post shows an altercation that they held off camera in the UFC 245 and it was understood that there were “pending matters” between the two.
With Garbrandt’s possible flyweight move, and with names like Aljamain Sterling In the rooster division (in my opinion he will be the next challenger), the possibility of a fight between the two becomes more remote.
