The one who was number one on the PSOE list for the 2019 Madrid municipal elections, Pepu Hernández, has resigned from his act as councilor, a few days after presenting his resignation as spokesman for the socialist bench.

In his farewell speech he wished “courage, encouragement and luck” to the colleagues from the Corporation who remain and being a “more knowledgeable, informed and demanding citizen.”

The mayor has submitted his resignation to the act in a plenary session held after the one that has approved the Mobility ordinance with the ‘yes’ of PP, Cs and Mixed Group. The councilor began his last words in Cibeles thanking everyone for these years, in which he has known “in a different way” a city that he thought he knew after living 63 of them.

The former national basketball coach added that it has been a “very formative and interesting” time that has made him a “more knowledgeable and informed citizen and, from now on, without being a threat, more demanding.”

From Madrid, he stressed that it is a “magnificent, diverse” city and that it must remain “plural”, although it also suffers from “high doses of inequality”. He wishes his colleagues who remain “courage, courage and luck” to carry out this work. Pepu Hernández has been fired from the Plenary with a loud applause by the councilors of all the benches, standing.
