The PGA Tour announced this Tuesday in a press release that the American Patrick Cantlay, No. 4 in the world, has been chosen as PGA Tour Player of the Year. This title is decided by the vote of the members of the American circuit. Cantlay has imposed himself on Jon Rahm, Bryson DeChambeau, Harris English, Collin Morikawa.
The award may or may not be considered fair but Cantlay has achieved four victories this season: ZOZO Championship, Memorial Tournament, BMW Championship and Tour Championship, in addition to the FedEx Cup. On the other hand, he has added seven top ten during the year.
Rahm, world No. 1 and winner of the US Open in June, his first Grand Slam, received last week the PGA of America Player of the Year award, an award that is awarded based on his performance in the ‘majors’, average of hits and wins. Rahm has achieved a whopping 15 top ten this season.
