Paige VanZant on fight at BKFC 19: “Now that I have the experience it’s unfortunate for Rachael”

Former UFC women’s flyweight and current BKFC fighter, Paige VanZant, promises fans that they will see a “totally new fighter” at BKFC 19.

VanZant faces former MMA rival Rachael Ostovich in a rematch Friday night at the Florida State Fairgrounds in Tampa, Florida. The two women previously met in the UFC in January 2019, with VanZant winning the fight by submission. Now that the rematch will take place at BKFC, this time there will be no submission ending as the fight will take place completely standing up and not on the ground. For VanZant, this will be his second fight at BKFC, while for Ostovich it is the first time he has fought in boxing without gloves.

Warning

Speaking to MMAjunkie.com the day before BKFC 19, VanZant promised his followers that they would see a new and improved version of her. After losing a decision to Britain Hart in their BKFC debut fight, VanZant changed her boxing coach and believes that change will help her during his Friday night fight against Ostovich at BKFC.

“I took a lot of lessons from that,” VanZant said. «RYou really need bare-glove boxing experience to be successful. Now that I have the experience, I have a fight under my belt, I continue to grow with this sport, with the division and with the organization. It’s unfortunate for Rachael. I feel like I made the moves after that last fight. I took a lot of lessons from her. I switched to Mundo Boxing with Pedro Díaz. I have one of the best boxing trainers in the world in my corner, and I haven’t stopped working since that fight. This is definitely a new fighter that you are going to see. “
