Pachuca thrashes as a visitor and qualifies for the quarterfinals in Mexico

MEXICO CITY, Nov 21 (.) – Pachuca advanced to the quarterfinals of the Guard1anes Mexican soccer tournament on Saturday by beating Santos Laguna 3-0 as a visitor in the key that opened the playoff phase.

The playoffs entered the teams that occupied from fifth to twelfth overall at the end of the 17 days of the regular season to face a single game, and the four winning clubs will relocate to places five through eight, depending on their position in the table , to play the quarterfinals.

Leon, Pumas UNAM, América and Cruz Azul qualified for the quarterfinals, an instance to which the first four places of the general table advanced directly at the end of the 17 days of the regular season.

Pachuca took the lead in the 36th minute with an accurate shot from Víctor Guzmán inside the area after a cross sent by Erick Aguirre from the left sector.

The “Tuzos” scored the second goal in the 55th minute when Colombian Oscar Murillo defined without a mark in the small area after goalkeeper Carlos Acevedo rejected two shots from Argentine Ismael Sosa.

The visiting team scored the third in the 85th minute with a powerful shot from Roberto de la Rosa inside the area after making a wall play with Chilean Víctor Dávila.

Later, Guadalajara will face Necaxa. On Sunday, the current champion Monterrey will play at home against Puebla, and Tigres will be Toluca’s rival.
