The Prime Minister, Pedro Sánchez, announced this Saturday new deadlines for the opening of national and international tourism this summer. The hotel sector, one of the hardest hit by the coronavirus pandemic, sees some relief, but things are going to change a lot for them and their future clients.
The British newspaper Daily Mail has compiled some of the changes that hotels They are already beginning to implement and that we will see in the very near future.
– Less contact: The cards to enter the rooms will be contactless and the self-service machines will be generalized. Chains like Ruby Hotels or Premier Inn have already implemented measures like this.
– Temperature: Usually, when you get to the hotel, they take your temperature. There is already a hotel in Turkey that does this.
– Airport pick up service: travelers will not use public transport and hotels will offer airport pick-up service, with drivers equipped with PPE.
– Facial recognition for check-in. The most modern and advanced hotels will use facial recognition technology for access to rooms or elevators. The FlyZoo hotel in China already has these characteristics.
– Masks. Accor group hotels already offer them to all customers.
– Alcoholic gel. The Accor group has also generalized the presence of disinfectant gels and wipes everywhere.
– Protected personnel. Chains like NH already have all their employees protected with masks.
– Lifts: they cannot be used with strangers. They will only be used by groups such as families or people traveling together.
– Goodbye to the minibar. The minibar will be replaced by a space reserved for face masks and hydro-alcoholic gel.
– Quarantine in the rooms: After being used, the rooms will go through a small 24-hour quarantine without being used.
– Extreme cleaning: some hotels are already purchasing disinfection equipment from hospitals.
– ozone: There are already establishments that use ozone machines to purify the air.
– Limited capacity: It will be common for hotel capacity to be limited, as in Spain, where initially the first capacity will be 30% of capacity.
– Robots: Cleaning robots will become popular.
– Telematic receptionists: receptionists will be able to attend through a 24-hour screen.
– Goodbye to the buffet. Breakfasts and lunches will be served under hourly reservation and in rooms that guarantee personal space.
– Lunch and dinner in the room: many hotels will recommend their clients to eat inside the room.
– Spas and massages: This type of services is in certain danger and the users will have to take extreme security conditions.
– Telematic services: Entertainment services such as gyms or yoga classes will be taught through the screen of the room.
– Regulated pools: the use of areas such as swimming pools will entail strict time control.
– More flexibility: hotels will be more flexible with last minute cancellations.
